An update and pictures of the construction of a bridge on Ona River, Odo Ona Apata area, by St Paul’s Church along Abeokuta Road. This is a World Bank-assisted project executed by the Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project (IUFMP).
The bridge over the Ona River in the Apata area is being constructed to complement the ongoing Ona River channelisation project by the Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project (IUFMP). Other related projects on the same river channelisation effort include reconstructing bridges at Odo Ona Kekere, Agara Akala Way, and Zartech-7UP Road in Oluyole.
The construction of the new bridge over the Ona River in the Odo Ona Apata began on 27 February 2024, and the project is nearing completion. The existing bridge in the Odo Ona Apata area is being used as an alternative route for motorists.
In addition to the IUFMP construction of a bridge on the Ona River in the Odo Ona Apata area, several other ongoing IUFMP flood prevention projects in Ibadan exist. These include river expansions and channelisation efforts at Ogbere (North), Agodi, Orogun, Kudeti, and Odo Ona Kekere/Elewe. Overall, there are over 24 ongoing and completed IUFMP flood prevention projects in Ibadan.
