An update and pictures of the construction of a bridge on Ona River, Odo Ona Apata area by St Paul’s Church along Abeokuta Road, a World Bank-assisted project executed by Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project (IUFMP). More about the IUFMP is contained here. The bridge construction on the Ona River, Odo Ona Apata area is being done to match the ongoing IUFMP Ona River channelisation. Similar projects being carried out for this reason and on the same river channelisation include the reconstruction of the bridge at Odo Ona Kekere, the reconstruction of the bridge at Agara Akala Way, and the reconstruction of the bridge at Zartech-7UP Road, Oluyole.
The construction of a bridge on the Ona River, Odo Ona Apata area began on 27 February 2024 and is estimated to be completed by June 2024. The existing bridge at Odo Ona Apata area is being used as the alternative route for motorists while the new bridge is being constructed.
In addition to the IUFMP construction of a bridge on the Ona River, Odo Ona Apata area, there are other ongoing IUFMP flood prevention projects, river expansions and channelisation at Ogbere (North), Agodi, Orogun, Kudeti and Odo Ona Kekere/Elewe in Ibadan, with over 24 ongoing IUFMP flood prevention projects ongoing and completed in Ibadan.
