Over 209 Primary Health Centres Upgraded in Oyo State

Healthcare is one of the four pillars of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration. And, in the Oyo State Roadmap for Accelerated Development 2019-2023, Governor Makinde promised that each of the 351 wards of Oyo State would have at least one Grade 3 Primary Health Centre (PHC). In keeping with this promise, the Oyo State Government in collaboration with the local government authorities is constructing/renovating, equipping and staffing 299 primary health centres across the state. The contract for the renovation and upgrading of these primary health centres was awarded to two contractors; Dominant Engineering Limited and Lanocks Construction Company Limited.

These upgraded primary health centres are also being equipped. So far, 21 PHCs have solar power installed, and some of the renovated and upgraded primary health centres have received 97 and subsequently, 120 generators as a backup power source. In addition, on March 7, 2023, Governor Seyi Makinde met with Ward Development Committee members from the 351 wards in the state and presented symbolic cheques of four million, five hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N4,550,000) each for equipping 264 primary health centres in the state.
