An update and pictures of the ongoing rehabilitation of the Iwo Road Roundabout and the expansion of the scope of the reconstruction of the 5.5 km Adegbayi Junction-Bus Terminal-Iwo Road Interchange. Both projects were approved by the Oyo State Executive Council on Tuesday, 10 December 2024.
This strategic intervention tackles two persistent challenges around the Iwo Road axis: seasonal flooding and traffic congestion. By rehabilitating the Iwo Road Roundabout and expanding the ongoing reconstruction of the Adegbayi Junction–Bus Terminal–Iwo Road Interchange (along the Ibadan-Ife Expressway), the Oyo State Government is not only improving road usability during the rainy season but also easing peak-hour gridlock. These integrated upgrades, including wider lanes, improved drainage, and better traffic flow systems, form part of a broader commitment to climate-resilient, commuter-friendly infrastructure.
Complementary Development: Iwo Road Bus Terminals 1 and 2
These efforts (the rehabilitation of the Iwo Road Roundabout and the expansion of the scope of the reconstruction of the 5.5 km Adegbayi Junction-Bus Terminal-Iwo Road Interchange) build upon the ongoing construction of Terminals 1 and 2 at the Iwo Road Bus Interchange, part of a strategic four-terminal transport upgrade (including the Terminals at Challenge and Ojoo) by the Oyo State Government. These terminals are central to modernising urban mobility and improving the travel experience for commuters.
