An update and pictures of the dualisation of the 8.3 km Akobo-Ojurin-Olorunda Abaa Road, executed by the Lagelu Local Government Council. The project is nearing completion. This critical infrastructure project, flagged off on 9 June 2023, is set to enhance connectivity between Akobo and Olorunda Abaa, reducing travel time and promoting economic development within the axis.
Recall that progress was initially slowed by the need for demolitions, including sections of the Nigerian Army Barracks fence, to accommodate the dual carriageway. However, work resumed subsequently. The road surface and tarring are complete. Additional enhancements, such as drainage systems and pedestrian-friendly walkways, have been incorporated to improve road durability and ease of access. Solar streetlights will also be installed as part of the project.
The Akobo-Ojurin-Olorunda Abaa Road is expected to ease congestion and drive development within Lagelu LGA. Similar road projects are underway across various Local Government Councils.
The Akobo-Ojurin-Olorunda Abaa Road project delivers on the State’s commitment to improving road infrastructure.
