An update on the construction of a 500,000-litre capacity aviation tank farm at the Ibadan Airport. The project for the installation of the aviation tank farm was awarded to Bovas and Company Limited by the Oyo State Government. This is part of the government’s plans to upgrade the Ibadan Airport. In 2021, the Oyo State Government donated a fire truck and upgraded the safety status of the airport.
The aviation tank farm has a total of three (3) tanks comprising two (2) 200,000 litres tanks and one (1) 100,000 litres tank, totalling 500,000 litres of aviation fuel storage. On June 2, 2022, Governor Seyi Makinde paid an inspection visit to the aviation tank farm at the Ibadan Airport and adjudged the project 65% completed. This project which commenced in March 2022 has a completion date of September 2022.
The Oyo State Government is also dualising the 3.2km Ibadan Airport Road and rehabilitating adjoining roads along the airport axis to expand the state’s economy and develop the area around the Ibadan Airport into an aerotropolis.
