An update on the construction of the Oyo State Agribusiness Industrial Hub, Atan-Ijaiye in Akinyele Local Government Area. Ijaiye is strategically located 16 km away from the Chief Obafemi Awolowo Railway Station and about 17 km away from a road linking part of the Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road with a spur towards the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport which is being upgraded into an international airport with cargo facilities. There are also further linkages to the major roads to Lagos, the north and other parts of western Nigeria to transport produce and products out of the site.

The Oyo State Agribusiness Industrial Hub, Ijaiye, will be sited on about 3,000 hectares of land which will be constructed into an agribusiness industrial hub with 2,400 hectares utilised for large-scale mechanised crop production and livestock ranching facilities.

The hub will contain a processing centre under the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) programme which is supported by the African Development Bank Group and other technical partners. The SAPZ programme promotes agricultural industrialisation by providing specific zones in agricultural communities with processing facilities for produce. The Ijaiye SAPZ will be sited on 300 hectares at the hub.

The Oyo State Agribusiness Industrial Hub, Ijaiye, style and facilities
The Oyo State Government is also partnering with the private sector and other development partners to construct a modern wholesale agri-food market at Ijaiye, styled after the Rungis International Market in Paris. This will be a ready major market for farmers to sell their produce with modern storage facilities to reduce post-harvest losses, thus increasing revenue for farmers and creating more job opportunities in the State.

Other facilities at the hub will include residential properties for workers, creche facilities for children, emergency fire services, healthcare facilities, equipment leasing facilities, electricity and water supply.

To support improved access and market linkages for farm produce to and from the Agribusiness Industrial Hub, the Oyo State Government is presently rehabilitating the 37.1 km Alako-Idiya-Batake-Olowa-Ijaiye Farm Settlement Road through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
The groundbreaking ceremony of the Oyo State Agribusiness Industrial Hub, Ijaiye, was held on 2 August 2025. See completed and ongoing projects in Oyo State, undertaken between June 2019 and July 2025, here.
