An update and pictures of the ongoing rehabilitation of the 45.3km Saki-Ogbooro-Igboho Road. The rehabilitation of the 45.3km Saki-Ogbooro-Igboho Road, handled by Messrs China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) Nigeria Ltd is progressing. While the project has faced delays, significant progress has been made, particularly on the Saki-Ogbooro section, with work now commencing on the Ogbooro-Igboho end.
Current Progress
Saki – Ogbooro Section (26 km):
- Scarification is 100% complete
- Lined drains are 98% complete (12,194 LM)
- Culverts are fully completed
- Stone base and surface dressing are 94.6% complete (24.6 km)
- The asphaltic surfacing has reached 88% completion (23 km)
Ogbooro – Igboho Section (19 km):
- Scarification is 10.5% complete (2 km)
- Lined drains are 39.4% complete (866 LM)
- Work on the stone base, surface dressing, and asphaltic surfacing is yet to commence.
This strategic road, which cuts across Saki West, Saki East, and Oorelope LGAs, remains crucial for boosting trade, transportation, and overall socio-economic development in the Oke Ogun Zone. Plans are also in place to extend the road from Igbeti to Kisi, as revealed by Governor Seyi Makinde.
Governor Makinde has also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering the project during this tenure and ensuring its completion to improve connectivity in the region.
