An update on the the asphaltic reconstruction, rehabilitation and expansion of the Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo Road which is a joint rehabilitation being undertaken by both the Oyo and Osun State Governments. The length of the entire strech of road is 91km. On the Oyo State end, the road has three sections: Section 1 – Iwo Road interchange to Olodo Bridge (7.7km); Section 2 – dualisation of Olodo Bridge to Ogunmakarun junction (500m) and Section 3 – Ogunmakarun Junction to Odo Oba (27.33km).
On October 27. 2022, Governor Seyi Makinde joined his then Osun State counterpart, Governor Gboyega Oyetola to flag off the project in Osogbo. The Oyo State end of the project was awarded to Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Ltd at the contract sum of N12.1 billion with a duration of 18 months. When completed, the rehabilitation will reduce travel time between Oyo and Osun States to less than 50 minutes.
