Inauguration of Governing Council

Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated the Governing Council of the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo. The 5-person council is chaired by Professor Ayoade Ogunkunle. Other members are: Professor Segun Ajiboye, Professor Abbas Adedibu, Chief Isaac Aderibigbe and Mrs Funmilayo Orisadeyi. Governor Makinde enjoined the council members to be diligent in the discharge of their duties. (11 December 2023)

Inauguration the Oyo State Advisory Council

Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated the Oyo State Advisory Council led by the Chairman, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN. Other members of the council are; Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, Senator Hosea Agboola, Senator Gbenga Babalola, Barrister Michael Lana, Hon Babatunde Oduyoye, Senator Kamarudeen Adedibu and Alhaji Bashir Ajibade. Coronation of Aseyin of Iseyinland

Governor Seyi Makinde attended the official coronation ceremony and presented the staff of office to the 30th Aseyin of Iseyinland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, Ajirotutu I. In his remarks at the event, Governor Makinde announced that he was renaming the road leading to LAUTECH Iseyin Campus Aseyin Road in honour of the late Aseyin. (14 December 2023)

Ark of Hope for All Foundation 9th Annual Charity Programme

The Oyo State Government hosted the Ark of Hope for All Foundation 9th Annual Charity Programme. Speaking at the event, which was held at the Government House in Agodi, Ibadan, Governor Seyi Makinde appreciated those who dedicate their lives to taking care of the most vulnerable in the state and shared plans to register about 3,000 of the children and caregivers on the Oyo State Health Insurance (OYSHIA) scheme. His Excellency also said the government would provide some food relief packages under SAfER to orphanage homes in the State. (15 December 2023)

This Week in Governance 

Pensioners Health Insurance 

The Oyo State Government has paid health insurance premiums for all Oyo State Government pensioners for 2024 through the Sustainable Actions for Economic Recovery (SAfER) programme. The Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), Dr Sola Akande, advised unregistered pensioners to enrol at OYSHIA offices to access the benefit. (18 December 2023)

Oyo State Female Football Club

The Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Ms Wasilat Adegoke, inaugurated the first Oyo State female football club. Speaking during the stakeholders meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, Ms Adegoke described the development as a milestone that solidifies the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration’s continued interest in creating equal opportunities for female youths in sports. She urged football-inclined female youths to be a part of the life-transforming opportunity. (18 December 2023)

Project Update

The Oyo State Government resumed reconstruction, rehabilitation, and expansion works on the 33.53 km Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo Road. Before the recent resumption, work was focused on the construction of the new two-span Olodo Bridge, which collapsed in July 2023. The construction of the first phase of the two-span Olodo Bridge is scheduled to be completed by February 2024, and the 35.53 km Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo Road project is scheduled to be completed by Q4 2024. Coronation of Soun of Ogbomoso

Governor Seyi Makinde attended the coronation ceremony and presented the staff of office to the 21st Soun of Ogbomoso Land, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III. During the ceremony, Governor Makinde assured the Soun that his administration would support plans to transform Ogbomosoland into a top city in the world and also solicited the Kabiyesi’s support on the Oyo State Government’s plans to enforce the rule of law in the State. Oyo State Appropriation Bill Signed 

Governor Seyi Makinde signed into law the 2024 Oyo State Appropriation Bill passed by the Oyo State House of Assembly. The total amount of the budget was reviewed upwards by the House of Assembly to N438,447,878,548.39. This is N4,226,111,609.60 more than the proposed budget submitted by Governor Makinde. (22 December 2023)
