Healthcare is one of the four main pillars of the Governor Seyi Makinde led administration. In keeping with his campaign manifesto, Governor Seyi Makinde’s government has focused on completing, renovating, upgrading and equipping healthcare facilities in Oyo State.
The promise to have at least one standard primary health care (PHC) facility in each of the 351 wards in Oyo State is being fulfilled with the award of the contract for the renovation and upgrade of 299 PHCs across the state. Since March 2021 when the contract was awarded, 13 PHCs have been renovated/upgraded and fully equipped while work is ongoing in 286 other PHCs .

The Staff Clinic at the Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan was also upgraded and fully equipped using capitations accruing to the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA).
Additionally, Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration has completed and equipped the High Dependency Unit at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.
Other secondary healthcare facilities were also upgraded and/or equipped. These include:
Adeoyo State Maternity Home, Yemetu – equipping and upgrading.
General Hospital Aremo, Ibadan – renovation and equipping facilitated by OYSHIA.
General Hospital Eruwa, Ibarapa – Upgrading of laboratory.
Jericho Nursing Home, Ibadan – Renovation, upgrade and conversion to Geriatric Centre.
Oni Memorial Children’s Hospital – Equipping the facility.
Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration also kitted 3 new ambulances with ICU facilities.
Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration also provided renewable energy solutions to 21 healthcare facilities in Oyo State by installing solar power. The intervention will ensure that equipment such as ultrasound machines, vaccine fridges and delivery rooms have power supply. These facilities include:

- Isale Oba Model PHC, Ibadan
- Oranyan PHC, Ibadan
- Ibrahim Taiwo PHC, Ogbomoso

- Oke Olola PHC, Oyo Town
- Alakia PHC, Ibadan
- Kolobo PHC, Oyo Town
- Agbami Chest Centre Jericho, Ibadan
- Infectious Disease Centre Olodo, Ibadan
To complement the efforts at providing affordable healthcare for Oyo State residents, Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration also carried out the Free Health Mission 2021:
