The Oyo State Government has begun the rehabilitation of the 4.73 km Tewure Market-Ila Junction Road, Oriire Local Government Area. This road is one of six rural roads totalling 87.89 kilometres in seven local government areas (Atisbo, Ido, Iseyin, Oluyole, Oriire, Oyo West, and Saki East) under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) as part of its commitment to improving access to agricultural markets and boosting rural development.
This road is a critical route for farmers and traders, forming a vital link between rural communities and larger commercial centres across the State. The Tewure Market-Ila Junction Road project (4.73 km) will include the construction of bridges and culverts with a single coat surface dressing.
The ongoing rehabilitation work is designed to:
- Improve transportation of farm produce from rural areas to urban markets,
- Reduce post-harvest losses due to poor road conditions, and
- Encourage agribusiness investment and rural enterprise development.
This intervention aligns with Oyo State’s broader infrastructure agenda, which prioritises equitable development and economic inclusion across all Zones of the State. By opening up this rural corridor, the RAAMP initiative will directly impact food security, access to services, and livelihood opportunities for rural residents.
Governor Seyi Makinde commented about the RAAMP projects in his State of the State address given on 20 June 2025. The Oyo State Government Feedback service also gives updates on Facebook, Instagram and X, and this blog here.
