Access to quality healthcare at the grassroots level remains one of the most crucial elements of community well-being. Across Oyo State, Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) serve as the backbone of healthcare delivery, ensuring that essential medical services are available to residents, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Recognising the importance of PHCs, the Oyo State Government has been making strides in improving infrastructure, staffing, and medical supply chains. An additional 106 Primary Healthcare Centres in all 33 LGAs have been cleared for upgrade. The OYSG and Local Government Authorities will jointly execute this.
In the Oyo State Roadmap for Accelerated Development 2019-2023 manifesto, Governor Seyi Makinde promised that each of the 351 wards of Oyo State would have at least one Grade 3 Primary Health Centre. In keeping with this promise, the Oyo State Government, in collaboration with the local government authorities, is constructing/renovating, equipping and staffing Primary Health Centres across the State.
Here is a list of the 106 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) that are being upgraded in Oyo State. Work has already commenced in 80 of these PHCs.
