An update and pictures of the completed reconstruction of the 8.5 km Mile 110-Ring Road Mobil-Challenge Car Park Road. The Mile 110-Ring Road Mobil-Challenge Car Park reconstruction project was approved on 5 December 2023 by the Oyo State Executive Council under Lot 1.
The Mile 110-Ring Road Mobil-Challenge Car Park reconstruction road project is in the Ibadan South West Local Government Area, and the work done on the project includes:
- Cutting of failed spots and removal of unsuitable materials in the area to form a strong layer
- Desilting of drains and weeding of median
- Application of 100mm thick mass concrete to the medians for resurfacing
- Provision of 200mm thick sub-base
- Provisions and placing of 150mm thick crushed stone base
- Provision of compacted 40mm asphaltic concrete binder course as a regulating course
- Provision of compacted 40mm asphaltic concrete wearing course as an overlay
- Painting of kerbstones
- Road marking and signs
The Mile 110-Ring Road Mobil-Challenge Car Park reconstruction project is one of the ten roads under Lot 1, which was handled by Kopek Construction Ltd. Two other roads in Lot 1, the Iyaganku-Seventh Day-Oke Bola Junction and Olubadan Stadium Junction-Vale College-NUJ Press Centre Junction and the General Gas Junction-Kolapo Ishola GRA-Iyana Church have also been completed. Both roads under Lot 2 (handled by Ratcon Construction Company), the 3.5 km Oke Adu-Ode Aje-Aremo-Orita Aperin Road and the 10.8 km Bus Stop Gate-Oje-Beere-Oja Oba-Molete Under Bridge Road are now complete too. Five additional roads were also approved under Lot 3, handled by Craneburg Construction Limited of which three; Oke Ado-Tribune-Imale Falafia-Ososami-Iyana Adeoyo Junction, Ring Road, Idi Arere-Kudeti-Eleta-Idi Aro-Labo Junction-Orita Aperin Road and the Idi Arere-Popo Yemoja Road-Oke Ado-Molete Road have been completed.
All eight roads mentioned above totalling 38.48 km, including the Mile 110-Ring Road Mobil-Challenge Car Park project, were commissioned by Governor Seyi Makinde on 11 July 2024. During the commissioning, Governor Makinde restated that the repair of feeder roads in Ibadan will be extended to every zone in Oyo State from Q4 2024.
