Recap of Update for November 2023

The Oyo State Government designated Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the State into 24-hour and 9-hour Service Delivery Centres (SDCs). The plan, which was revealed in a communique signed by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, is part of the Oyo State Government’s plan to improve access to quality healthcare services.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof AbdulWaheed Adelabu Salihu attended the Innovation Africa 2023 Official Ministerial Summit at Kigali in Rwanda. Speaking at the summit, Prof Salihu reiterated the Oyo State Government’s plan to integrate modern technology into learning and teaching in public, primary and secondary schools in the State. Governor Seyi Makinde, presented the 2024 Oyo State Appropriation Bill with a total budget allocation of Four Hundred and Thirty-Four Billion, Two Hundred and Twenty-One Million, Seven Hundred and Sixty-Five Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty-Eight Naira, and Seventy-Nine Kobo (N434,221,765,938.79) to the Oyo State House of Assembly. Key sectors in 2024 Appropriation Bill, tagged “Budget of Economic Recovery,”were allocated the following sums: N90,654,949,252.68 to Education; N74,316,325,706.08 to Infrastructure; N40,998,197,758.30 to Health and  N15,848,708,031.80 to Agriculture. The Oyo State Executive Council approved the award of contracts for the reconstruction of 12 roads and the asphaltic rehabilitation of 5 roads in Ibadan. The 12 roads were divided into Lots 1 and 2. Lot 1 which consists of 10 road projects was awarded to Kopek Construction Ltd at the sum of N24.8B for the duration of 12 months. Lot 2 which consists of 2 road projects was awarded to Ratcon Construction Company for the sum of N1.88B with a duration of 6 months. The asphaltic rehabilitation of 5 road projects in Ibadan is to be executed by the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) at the sum of N553,604,734.03 with a duration of 3 months. The Oyo State Executive Council approved 1 billion naira as a take-off grant for the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo. The approval was granted in line with Governor Seyi Makinde’s promise made while signing the bill into law to ensure the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education becomes the best university of education in Nigeria. Governor Seyi Makinde met with a delegation of investors and development partners led by the Country Director, Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) Rufus Idris; and Deputy Head of Office, Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) Germany, Michael Schmidt. Governor Makinde welcomed AGRA who are extending their operations to Oyo State to support smallholder farmers and agribusinesses in the State. He wished the delegation a fruitful stay in Oyo State.
