The General Gas Junction-Kolapo Ishola GRA-Iyana Church (5.48 km) Reconstruction is now Completed

A final update and pictures of the completed reconstruction of the 5.48 km General Gas Junction-Kolapo Ishola GRA-Iyana Church with a spur to Dizengoff Junction Road, Iyana Church, Ibadan. The General Gas Junction-Kolapo Ishola GRA-Iyana Church project was part of Lot 1 of 10 roads approved for reconstruction on 5 December 2023 by the Oyo State Executive Council. The General Gas Junction-Kolapo Ishola GRA-Iyana Church project was also one of eight roads totalling 38.48 km commissioned on 11 July 2024 by Governor Seyi Makinde.

The scope of the project covers General Gas Junction (Akobo), Off Idi Ape – Basorun – Akobo – Odogbo Barracks Raod; it passes through the densely developed and populated Akobo Housing Estate on the left-hand side and Kolapo Ishola GRA on the right and Ayegoro Community to end at Iyana Church with a spur to Dizengoff Junction, Iyana Church, Ibadan.

Works done on the General Gas Junction-Kolapo Ishola GRA-Iyana Church Road project include:

Clearing
Scarification of distressed sections of the road and evacuation of the scarified materials/debris from the site
Desilting of drains
Construction of 0.6 m x 0.6 m open reinforced concrete lined drain
Construction of 1.0 m x 1.0 m open reinforced concrete lined drain
Construction of covered drain
Stone Pitching
Construction of reinforced concrete retaining wall
Installation of kerb stones and painting of the kerb stones
Provision of 200 mm thick lateritic sub-base
Provision of 150 mm thick crushed stone base
Provision of 40 mm thick asphaltic concrete binder as a regulating course
Provision of 40 mm thick asphaltic concrete wearing course as an overlay and
Provision of road signs and road marking

The Oyo State Government is already prioritising the repair of feeder roads and will extend the implementation to other zones in Oyo State by Q4 2024.
