Cultural-Tourism Festival

The first Omituntun Cultural-Tourism Festival held at the Cultural Centre, Mokola Hill, Ibadan. The event included dancing competitions and the chanting of traditional Yoruba folklore from the Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Oyo State. The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, assured the people that Governor Seyi Makinde led administration would continue to promote culture and tourism in Oyo State. He also said the state would generate revenue and employment from it. (April 12, 2021)

Felicitation

Governor Seyi Makinde felicitated Muslims in the state and worldwide on the commencement of the 2021 Ramadan fasting. He urged them to pray for the peace and development of the country during the fasting period. He wished the Muslim faithful a successful fasting period. He also prayed to God to grant them the strength needed to sustain them through Ramadan. (April 13, 2021)

Courtesy call

The United States Consul General, Ms Claire Pierangelo, paid a courtesy call on Governor Seyi Makinde at the Government House, Ibadan. She was received on Governor Makinde’s behalf by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun. (April 13, 2021)

Partnership

The Oyo State Government has partnered with the United States Consulate General to launch an HIV treatment programme in Ibadan. The programme will raise awareness on the prevention of HIV, provide free tests and treatment opportunities for people affected by HIV in all local government areas of the state. (April 14, 2021)

Commenced

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Election (OYSEIC), working with the University of Ibadan, commenced a 2-day capacity building workshop to train its officers on modalities for conducting the local government elections in May. Speaking at the training, the OYSIEC Chairman, Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju SAN, said the training will equip the officers to conduct free, fair, credible and transparent elections. (April 15, 2021)
