Memorial Service

Governor Seyi Makinde attended the first-year memorial service of Pa Theophilus Akinyele held at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Ajia, Ibadan. During the memorial service, Governor Makinde hailed the visionary leadership and statesmanship of Pa Akinyele. He revealed that the patriarch had acquired parcels of land at his own expense to further the development of Ajia. The Certificates of Occupancy of these lands have now been handed to the Oyo State Government by Pa Akinyele’s widow. Governor Makinde further announced that the proposed Information Communication Technology Institution in Ajia Village would be named after the late elder statesman.  (November 14, 2021)

Primary Healthcare

37,500 residents of Oyo State are to benefit from the Basic Health Care Provision Fund. The beneficiaries include indigent persons, senior citizens, children below 5 years and pregnant women. The Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Taiwo Ladipo, made this known at the training of 99 implementors who would carry out the registration of beneficiaries. Dr Ladipo said Oyo State had met the preconditions to access the fund. The enrollment will run for three months. (November 17, 2021)

Sports Development

Governor Seyi Makinde handed over three buses to the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) and the Crown Football Club, Ogbomoso. While handing over the buses, Governor Makinde charged 3SC to go for greater glory by winning the NPFL on their first attempt. He encouraged Crown FC to aim for promotion into the NPFL. Security

Governor Seyi Makinde unveiled the Amotekun Headquarters, Ibadan, as part of activities to mark the first anniversary of the operationalisation of the Oyo State Security Network Agency.

At the event, Governor Makinde honoured 13 Amotekun Corps members who had died during service and gave cheques to their next of kin. 

Governor Makinde also presented awards to four outstanding members of the corps. Kazeem Babalola Akinro was awarded the most outstanding and committed operative while Oladele Oluwaseun Adelanke was awarded the Most Productive Female Operative. Fakayode Adebowale emerged as the Best Zonal Coordinator and Saheed Abdul-Ganiyu emerged as the Best Unit Coordinator. (November 18, 2021)

Announcement

Environmental Sanitation Update

Following confusion regarding the Thursday weekly environmental sanitation for traders and Saturday monthly environmental exercise for residents, the Oyo State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr Abiodun Oni, has clarified that the exercises have not been cancelled. However, the state will not be enforcing no-movement during the exercise.  Mr Oni appealed to market persons, as well as residents in the state, to make environmental sanitation a daily routine.
