OYSROMA begins rehabilitation of 255 roads in Oyo State
  • Work begins on the rehabilitation of 255 roads in the 33 local government areas of the state by the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA).

Training of Civil Servants 

The Oyo State Government commenced the training of 500 civil servants in the state. Speaking at the opening workshop, which featured training on Basic Skills in the English Language, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), the Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Alhaji Ismail Ayansiju Lawal, said that the programme would involve officers of grade levels 03 to 06 and 08 to 09. He said the training would also cover other courses, including ‘Capacity Building Workshop on Effective Registry Administration and Communication for Clerical Officers,’ ‘Capacity Building Workshop Programme on the English Language for Administrative and Executive Officers,’ and ‘Performance Improvement Workshop for Account Officers and Auditors’. The training, which would run in single-day batches, would be completed in the next two weeks. (October 17, 2022) 

Governor Seyi Makinde Meets Student Representatives. 

Governor Seyi Makinde met with representatives of students from Oyo State tertiary institutions. During the meeting, Governor Makinde addressed several requests from the students, including the request for scholarships and bursaries. He encouraged them to embrace the entrepreneurial spirit after graduating as this would help them contribute to the development of the state. (October 18, 2022)

Concluded: Skill for Jobs Program (S4J)

The Oyo State Government concluded the training of 181 youths under the Skills for Jobs Programme (S4J). The programme was facilitated through the Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports. The six months training was organised to give the beneficiaries sector-specific entrepreneurship skills that will equip them to launch their own businesses. During the graduation ceremony, which was held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the Oyo State Government Secretariat, the Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal handed out starter packs to the beneficiaries and urged them to use their skills to contribute to the development of the state. (October 19, 2022)

Update:255 Roads for Rehabilitation

The Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) has commenced the rehabilitation of 255 Roads in the 33 local government areas of the state. The OYSROMA Chairman, Hon Ogunlade Busoye Soladoye, confirmed that work had started at Anfaani Roundabout, Ayefele/Efunsetan Road, Challenge, Sabo Road, Parliament Road and Golf Club Road. He said more roads will be added in the coming weeks to complete the spread to all 33 local government areas in the state. (October 20, 2022)

Chief Emeka Anyaoku Lecture Series

Governor Seyi Makinde hosted the Chief Emeka Anyaoku Lecture Series in Ibadan. In his remarks, Governor Makinde pointed to transparency in budget planning and his media chats as examples of good governance and accountability to the people. At the event were Professor Ayodele Olutokun, the Director, Oba Sikiru Adetona Institute of Governance Studies, Department of Political Science, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, who delivered the lecture and Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations
