Training of over 1,000 Oyo State auto technicians
Mobil partnered with Oyo State on training over 1,000 auto technicians from all 33 Local Government Areas in Oyo State on modern techniques and technology. The training programme covers automotive repair and maintenance techniques, designed to empower participants with practical skills in high demand within the automotive industry. Speaking on the training, Otunba Ademola Ojo, the State Commissioner for Trade, Investment, Industry, and Cooperatives, said the training is one of the perks offered to traders and artisans who register with the State Government. Otunba Ojo also said the certified auto technicians would be linked with vehicle owners through an app after they complete their training. The State representative of Mobil, Mr Yinka Adaralegbe, lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for creating a business-friendly environment, which led to the initiative to train over 1,000 auto technicians. Appointment: Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu is the new LAUTECH VC
Governor Seyi Makinde approved the appointment of Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ibadan. According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu, Prof. Kalilu will serve as a Vice Chancellor for a single five-year term starting on 12 June 2024. Recruitment of Amotekun Forest Rangers
Governor Seyi Makinde approved the recruitment of Amotekun Forest Rangers. A statement signed by the commandant of Oyo Amotekun Corps, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd) called on interested applicants between the ages of 25 and 50, medically and physically fit, and with no criminal records to register online using the Oyo State Government jobs portal. Commandant Olayanju added that Governor Makinde also approved the recruitment of able-bodied local hunters into the Oyo State Amotekun Corps as members of Amotekun Forest Rangers. (4 June 2024)
French Government sponsors Rungis-styled international market for Oyo State
Governor Seyi Makinde met international market consultants on a working visit to Oyo State. The governor engaged with Timothée Witkowski, the Head of International Projects Semmaris and Steve Allen, a market specialist consultant, on a working visit to Oyo State. Their visit is in line with the partnership between the Oyo State Government and the French Government to set up an international wholesale agribusiness central market of farm produce and processed products to industries across West Africa similar to the Rungis International Market in Paris. Mr Witkowski and Mr Allen are on a field mission for the pre-construction plan of this project. (5 June 2024)
Recruitment Portal
The Oyo State Government opened the recruitment portal for interested applicants for various positions in the State Hospital Management Board. Dr Akin Fagbemi, Ph.D., the Oyo State Hospital Management Board Chairman, revealed that the plan to recruit more health workers had been finalised by the State government with opportunities open to consultants, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Courtesy Visit
Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, on behalf of His Excellency Seyi Makinde, received the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the South West region, DIG Abiodun Sylvester Alabi. During the visit, Barrister Lawal urged the police to supply more manpower to the State. The Deputy Governor thanked DIG Alabi for the visit, acknowledging him as a man of few words but abundant actions. He emphasised that DIG Alabi’s presence in the State would enhance and fortify the State’s security architecture and that the government would continue to prioritise security by providing law enforcement with the necessary facilities and support to combat crime. 25-year aviation fuel concession agreement with Bovas and Company Limited
The Oyo State Government signed a 25-year concession agreement with Bovas and Company Limited for the 500,000-litre aviation fuel storage and dispensing facility installed by the government at the Ibadan Airport. The Director General of OYSIPA, Tilewa Folami, signed the agreement on behalf of the government and stated that this is part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration’s plan to upgrade the airport to international standards.
