Palliative Measures in Oyo State
The Oyo State Government made travelling on Omituntun Buses free as part of palliative measures to cushion the effects of naira and fuel scarcity. The authorities increased the number of routes operated by the buses to ten routes. The free bus service was announced on Friday, February 3. 2023 as a palliative measure by Governor Seyi Makinde during his statewide broadcast. (February 06, 2023)
Update: Road Rehabilitation
The Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) continued road Maintenance in Ibadan Zone with the repair of the drainage, and asphalt paving of Adeoyo Road, Ibadan. OYSROMA has so far repaired and maintained roads in Ibadan, Oyo and Ogbomoso Zones with a promise to carry out more repairs in the Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun Zones. (February 6, 2023).
Update of Public Service Rules
Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated the Committee on the Review of Public Service Rules. The committee, led by Chief Adebisi Adesola, is to update the rules guiding public servants in Oyo State. Speaking at the event, Governor Makinde stated that the update became necessary due to emerging trends and technologies. (February 09, 2023)
Courtesy Visit
Governor Seyi Makinde welcomed the new General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Mohammed Takuti Usman, and his team on a courtesy visit. Governor Makinde thanked the army for their role in keeping Oyo State secure. (February 09, 2023)
Hosting of Oyo State Sports Persons
Governor Seyi Makinde hosted Oyo State sports persons who excelled in various local and international sporting competitions in 2022. During the event, Governor Makinde announced cash gifts to the medalists. The sports persons include the Oyo State Contingent to the 21st National Sports Festival (Delta 2022); the Oyo State Contingent to the 1st National Para-Sports Games 2022 in Abuja; Oyo State indigenes representing Nigeria at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held at Birmingham, UK; and Oyo State indigenes representing Nigeria at the 2022 Confederation of Africa Cycling Track Championship held at the Velodrome, Abuja.
