Vice President’s Visit
The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Her Excellency Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, visited Oyo State for an engagement. They were received by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan at the Ibadan Airport. (September 13, 2021).
Award Ceremony
The Oyo State Government honoured eight students with separate awards for their excellent performance at the 2021 Nigeria National Mathematics and Olympiad competition. The students represented Oyo State in the primary, junior and senior secondary school categories. The Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun, presented the awards to the students on behalf of the Oyo State Government. (September 16, 2021)
Isolation Centre Funding
The Oyo State Ministry of Health announced that the state government has been providing adequate funds and manpower to run the isolation centres in the state. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Adebisi Ayoola, stated this in response to allegations that the isolation centres were poorly funded and that health workers were unpaid. He added that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) ranked the services provided by the isolation centres as world-class. He also said that the state government further provided delicious meals, ample accommodation and prompt payment of allowances to its health workers. (September 16, 2021)
Inspection Visit
The Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Post Primary Schools Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Pastor Akinade Alamu, paid an inspection visit to schools in the state and assured everyone that the government is committed to promoting sound education in the state. He advised candidates sitting for the school-based West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) which is in progress nationwide to avoid all acts of examination malpractice. COVAX Advocacy
The Oyo State Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism advocated for intensified awareness on COVID-19 vaccine (COVAX) at the grassroots in the state. The advice was given at a one-day advocacy meeting held in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Oyo Town. The advocacy meeting trained local government information officers and media practitioners to improve COVAX confidence and acceptance among residents in the state. (September 16, 2021)
