Appointed
The Oyo State Government approved the appointment of the Mogaji of Olasomi Compound, Elekuro, Ibadan South East Local Government Area, Oladosu Ademola as the new Vice-Chairman of the Oyo State Pacesetter Transport Company. The approval was confirmed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun. Mrs Adeosun urged him to see his appointment as a call to service and to demonstrate loyalty, dedication and diligence in the discharge of his duties. (March 16, 2022)
Illicit Drug Dealing
The Oyo State Government declared support for an end to illicit drug dealing in the state. The declaration was made at an awareness seminar organised by the Nigeria Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers (NAPPMED) with the support of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). During the event, the Director Planning, Research and Statistics, representing the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Barr. Abdul-Fatai Oyedeji pointed out that the Oyo State Government remained at the forefront of the campaign against drug abuse and would not relent in partnering with interested parties like NAPPMED to rid the state of the menace of drugs and substance abuse, which often led to crime in the society. Inaugurated
The Oyo State Government inaugurated the Environmental and Social Safeguard teams for out-of-school children. The inauguration is an initiative of the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA). During the programme, the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OyoSUBEB), Dr Nureni Adeniran outlined that the major priority of the team was to consolidate the gains of the World Bank-supported BESDA programme while promoting children’s rights, reporting all forms of child abuse in schools, reporting adults vulnerable to radicalization, enhancing compliance to safeguarding procedures and ensuring the effective use of Grievance Redress Mechanism boxes. Dr Adeniran urged members selected across the 21 BESDA Focus Local Government Areas to carry out their duties with a good sense of judgement, strong will and dedication. (March 15, 2022)
Commissioned
The Governor of Bauchi State, His Excellency Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed commissioned the 5.2km Gedu-Oroki-Sabo-Asipa Road in Oyo Town. Governor Mohammed who was a Special Guest of Honour at the commissioning hailed Governor Seyi Makinde for the good works he was doing in Oyo State and urged the people of Oyo State to continue to support him. On his part, Governor Seyi Makinde thanked Governor Mohammed for honouring the people of Oyo State with his presence and pledged that his administration would continue to fulfil their mandate of moving the people of Oyo State from poverty to prosperity.
