Unscheduled Visit

Governor Seyi Makinde paid an unscheduled visit to Igangan, Ibarapaland, to meet with families who lost loved ones during last Sunday’s attacks and assess the damages caused. During the visit, Governor Makinde pleaded with the people not to take the law into their hands. He promised that his administration would deal with the internal security failings. He also pledged to support the grieving families. (June 08, 2021)

Democracy Summit

Governor Seyi Makinde delivered the keynote address at the maiden edition of the Governor Seyi Makinde National Democracy Summit at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan. In his speech, Governor Makinde spoke about the devolution of powers as the best way to solve the challenges facing Nigeria’s democracy. (June 08, 2021)

Kicked Off

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Bashir Bello, kicked off the Health Financing Technical Working Group Workshop on Health Care Financing Policy in Oyo State. In his remarks, Dr Bello revealed that the Oyo State Government has released N1.5 billion to the Oyo State Ministry of Health to ensure that citizens and residents have access to good healthcare.  He also hinted that the authorities are planning to subsidise secondary healthcare in Oyo State. The new Health Care Financing Policy will, among other things, address the ‘no pay, no care’ policy at private and public hospitals across the state. (June 09, 2021)

Partnership

The Oyo State Government and Manasseh Engineering distributed 50 free mobile toilet units in markets, motor parks, garages and other public places without toilets. The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is part of efforts to combat open defecation in the state. Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Dr Abdulateef Oyeleke, said the mobile toilet units would help curb the many health hazards of open defecation. Also, at the event, the authorities inaugurated Clean and Green Clubs at several schools across the state to promote healthy living and afforestation in Oyo State. (June 09, 2021)

Resuscitated

Governor Seyi Makinde commissioned the resuscitated Ilaju Garri Processing Factory in Ido Local Government Area. The facility, which had been left moribund since the late 1980s can now be used by the people of Ilaju and environs to process cassava. The project facilitated by Ido (Ibadan) Cooperative Society is one of the private-sector-led, public-sector-supported projects of the Oyo State Government. (June 09, 2021)

State of the State Address

Governor Seyi Makinde delivered a State of the State Address at the second anniversary of the Ninth Assembly at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Ibadan. In his address, Governor Makinde shared a report of the government’s activities in the past year. (June 10, 2021)

Launched

The Support to Women Entrepreneurship in the Agri-food sector in Nigeria (SEFAN/SWEAN), was officially launched in Ibadan, Oyo State. At the event, Governor Seyi Makinde thanked the French authorities for selecting Oyo State as one of the two states to benefit from the programme. The SEFAN/SWEAN programme will train Oyo State women in agribusiness. (June 11, 2021)

Commissioned

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye commissioned a block of 4 classrooms, an office and toilet facilities at the Centre for French Teaching and Documentation, Iyaganku, Ibadan. During the event, Barr. Olaleye thanked the French Government for all their collaborations with the Oyo State Government and prayed that the friendship continues. (June 11, 2021)
