Free Medical Screening

The Oyo State Government in collaboration with four non-governmental organisations organised free medical screenings and health outreaches at Ibadan North, Lagelu, and Akinyele Local Government Areas. The screening covered ailments such as High Blood Pressure, diabetes, cataract, glaucoma, dental problems, and minor extractions. Individuals were also offered free eye tests, eyeglasses, medications, and general health education. (April 4-6, 2022)

Press Release

The Oyo State Government made an official statement on the alleged N998 million exercise book inflated contract. In the release, the government clarified the contract cost and the number of customised exercise books procured. The authorities stated that contrary to claims by some online publications, a total of 2,725,680 customised exercise books were printed at the rate of N150 for each 60 leaves customised exercise book and N180 for each 80 customised exercise book. Upgraded Primary Healthcare Centres

The Oyo State Government announced the completion of the renovation and upgrade of 197 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the state. The Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, made this known during an assessment visit to the upgraded PHCs in the Ibarapa Zone. According to Dr Olatubosun, 102 more PHC projects are currently ongoing.  (April 5, 2022)

Official Declaration

Governor Seyi Makinde officially declared to run for a second term in office. Governor Makinde made the declaration through his bi-weekly newsletter stating that if the people of Oyo State desired it, he would serve them for four more years. He said the authorities had laid a foundation of good leadership in the last three years and so they would like an opportunity to build on this foundation.  (April 7, 2022)
