OYS-CARES Result Area 2 

The Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA) commenced the distribution of inputs for the World-Bank-Assisted OYS-CARES Programme Result Area 2. The intervention was flagged off with the distribution of inputs to 100 Fasola Youth Farmers Community Association, who were recently onboarded at the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub. 

According to the project coordinator, Result Area 2, Mr Bamgbola Kolawole, the intervention aims to increase food security and support the food supply chain for poor households. The scheme will last for two years and empower over 6,000 youths.

Each of the youths received 25 bundles of cassava, 2.5 bags of fertiliser, 1 litre of herbicide and support for mechanisation at 30% of cost worth N200,000 for the cluster of youths.  (September 13, 2022)

Procurement of Security Equipment

The Oyo State Government approved the purchase of 25 JAC pickup vans and equipment for security operatives in the state. The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, said the sum of six hundred and three million, eight hundred and eighty-one thousand, two hundred and fifty naira only (N603,881,250.00) was approved for the purchase of the vehicles, while one hundred and seventy-five million, four hundred and ninety-eight thousand and fifty naira only (N175,498,050.00) was approved to provide security equipment for the Oyo State Security Task Force, Operation Burst. Appointment

The Oyo State Government appointed Barr Lateef Sarafadeen Abiola as the Chairman Governing Council of the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic in Saki. The appointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun. Mrs Adeosun congratulated the former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Saki branch and external solicitor to the Nigerian Army on his appointment. She urged him to see the new appointment as a call to loyal, dedicated and excellent service to the people of Oyo State. (September 13, 2022)

Commissioned

The Ekiti State Governor, His Excellency, Dr Kayode Fayemi, joined Governor Seyi Makinde to commission the 7.2 km Idi Ape-Basorun-Akobo-Odogbo Barracks Road dualisation and the General Gas Flyover projects in Ibadan. In his remarks, Governor Makinde stated that he would continue to prioritise good governance in the state. He also announced the release of seven hundred and fifty million Naira (N750,000,000) for the repairs of local roads in the state. On his part, Governor Fayemi commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s sense of responsibility for completing projects initiated by his predecessor. (September 15, 2022)
