Oyo State/Globacom Collaboration on Education

The Oyo State Government is set to partner with Globacom Telecommunications to create technology-based education systems in the state. Speaking during a meeting with the Regional Head, Public Sector Enterprise, Globacom Southwest, Mr Adewale Adiatu, the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, welcomed the collaboration which would provide e-learning and school data packs for pupils to attend classes remotely. He also emphasised the level of importance the Oyo State Government places on its education sector and the need to increase pupils’ access to quality education. (September 22, 2022)

Civic Reception for Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal

The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Bayo Lawal attended a civic reception held in his honour by the Kisi Progressive Union in Oke-Ogun. Speaking at the reception, Barr. Lawal expressed his profound gratitude to the distinguished members of the union and the people of Oke-Ogun for their support.  (September 24, 2022)

The Oke Ogun Polytechnic Combined Convocation Ceremony 2022

The Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Honourable Segun Ogunwuyi attended the Oke Ogun Polytechnic, (TOPS) Saki combined maiden Convocation Ceremony for Graduands of 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018, 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 Academic Session. Speaking at the ceremony, Hon Ogunwuyi commended the institution for their commitment to providing training on technological manpower. While commissioning the newly built Central Laboratory Complex named after Governor Seyi Makinde, Honourable Ogunwuyi restated the government’s commitment to the prioritisation of education in the state and wished the graduands success.  (September 24, 2022)

Oyo State Gaming Board Stakeholder Interactive Session

The Oyo State Gaming Board held the 2nd edition of its stakeholder meetings in Ibadan. While speaking at the meeting, the Director General of the Oyo State Gaming Board, Mr Olajide Boladuro, urged the public to refrain from engaging in and supporting underage gambling. He also said punishment for parties aiding and abetting the growing menace include a 3-year prison term and 500,000 Naira fine. (September 26, 2022)

Golden Prize for Teachers Award

Governor Seyi Makinde received the Golden Prize for Teachers award during the 58th National Delegates Conference of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT). During the event, the Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the NUT Mr Oladimeji Ismael Raji, speaking on behalf of over 40,000 Oyo State  Teachers, appreciated the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration for prioritising the welfare of teachers in the state and for the implementation of teacher’s friendly policies which always motivate them towards outstanding service delivery. The Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Honourable Segun Ogunwuyi received the award on behalf of his principal.  (September 28, 2022) 

2022 World Tourism Day Celebrations

The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Bayo Lawal attended the 2022 World Tourism Day celebration held at Igbeti Town in Olorunsogo Local Government Area. Speaking at the event, Barr. Lawal expressed his joy at the showcasing of two of the most well-known tourist sites in Oyo State, the Oke Iya Mopo Rock and the incredibly rare Oke Agbele Rock. He also emphasised the authorities’ plan to attract investors to the tourism sector and to harness the abundant natural resources in Oke-Ogun for the state’s economic growth. (September 28. 2022)

Inauguration: School Board of Trustees

Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated 11 School Board Of Trustee Members of the Government College in Ibadan. Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Makinde said the government alone cannot tackle the huge manpower and infrastructure deficit in the education sector, and as such, the administration took an innovative step by handing over management of a public school to the old boys’ association of the school. The Board is made up of 7 representatives of the Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association, 2 government representatives and 2 members from the school’s parents’ body. (September 29, 2022)

Update:255 Roads for Rehabilitation

The Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) has earmarked 255 roads across 33 Local Government Areas in the state for rehabilitation. While inspecting the roads to be repaired, the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) Chairman, Mr Ogunlade Busoye Soladoye announced that the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME) process would be used for the rehabilitation. He also said that using the 750,000,000 million naira released for the project, the agency will ensure potholes across the 33 LGAs are fixed. (September 29, 2022)

Sod Turning and Ibadan Circular Road Project Flag off

The Benue State Governor, His Excellency Samuel Ortom joined Governor Seyi Makinde and Former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja to perform the sod turning at the Senator Rashidi Ladoja GRA and flag off the construction of the Ibadan Circular Road East End Wing (32km) Project. During the joint ceremony, Governor Makinde renamed the Ibadan Circular Road, the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road in honour of the former Governor of Oyo State who conceived the project nearly 20 years ago. The East End Wing of the 32km project was awarded to Craneburg Construction Limited. This phase of the project includes the construction of 6 bridges and 2 interchanges.  (September 29 2022)

OYS-CARES distribution of Inputs and Assets in Atisbo, Irepo and Saki West LGAs.

The Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA) continued the distribution of inputs and assets as part of the OYS-CARES project in Atisbo, Irepo and Saki West LGAs. The beneficiaries received 25 bundles of cassava, 2.5 bags of fertiliser, one litre of herbicide and cash support for mechanisation at 30% of the cost. (September 29, 2022)

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OyoSUBEB) stated that it is not recruiting and warned job seekers against the false 2022 Recruitment Announcement making the rounds on the internet. 

In a statement the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, said that a formal announcement will be made by the board through appropriate media channels when recruitments begin.  (September 23, 2022)

In commemoration of the 62nd independence day celebration, the Oyo State Government will be holding a ceremony at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba in Ibadan at 9:00 am on Saturday, October 1, 2022.
