Governor Seyi Makinde flagged off the distribution of 2.7 million exercise books to public school students in Oyo State. Governor Makinde presented some of the exercise books to students from selected secondary schools at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Ibadan. (March 08, 2021)

Approved
The Oyo State Executive Council approved the procurement of 1,194 tons of Aluminum Sulphate chemical, at the cost of N399,990,000 to enable the state Water Corporation to provide potable water to the people. The council also approved the implementation of a mini-grid scheme for rural communities not connected to the national grid. The Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Barrister Temilolu Ashamu said the first rollout of the scheme would be implemented in four communities namely: Ajia Community in Ona-Ara Local Government Area; Otefo community in Atiba Local Government Area; Shamu Community in Iwajowa Local Government Area and Orinsunmibare in Ogbomoso South Local Government Area. Each of the mini-grids will be located around a healthcare centre or school. They will serve other public facilities and residences in the communities. He also said the project would be carried out by four contractors, at a total sum of about N575 million. (March 09, 2021)
Suspended
The Oyo State Government announced the indefinite suspension of the monthly environmental sanitation and restriction of movement that takes place every last Saturday of the month. While making the announcement, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Dr Idowu Oyeleke, said the state will now emphasise daily cleaning of the environment by all residents. Launched
The first phase of a bicycle initiative to facilitate easier movement, for both civil servants and visitors within the State Secretariat, has been launched. This initiative is a collaboration between the state government and Awa Bike, a startup in Ibadan. (March 10, 2021)
Courtesy Call
Top military officers led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General L. E. O. Irabor, paid the Governor’s Office a courtesy visit. They were received by the deputy governor, Engr Rauf Olaniyan. Engr Olaniyan requested the deployment of more troops to the state to help fight insecurity. He assured them that the Oyo State Government would continue to support troops in the state with the necessary logistics to carry out their duties.
