Step-down List Verification Begins

The Oyo State Post Primary Schools Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) started verifying the 577 candidates in the step-down list. This will conclude the recruitment of 5,000 new teaching staff, which began last year. (March 01, 2021)

Security Meeting Held

Governor Seyi Makinde held a joint security meeting with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, heads of security agencies and traditional rulers from Oyo and Kwara States. They agreed to set up a working team for both states to address security issues, including the displacement of some residents of Igangan to Kwara State. Traditional rulers from both states will also be involved in intelligence gathering efforts. (March 02, 2021)

Clarified

Governor Seyi Makinde clarified his administration’s stand on the planned implementation of the National Livestock Transformation Plan. He said the program would not be implemented wholly; instead, his administration would consider beneficial aspects to Oyo State. He also stated that ranching is a private business, so his administration would not be providing free land for private investors. (March 03, 2021)

Approved

The Oyo State Executive Council (EXCO) announced its plan to proceed with the remodelling/renovation of 351 Primary Healthcare Centers in all the wards in Oyo State, as earlier promised. The council has approved 299 Primary Health Centres’ remodelling at the cost of N6 billion through the Alternate Project Funding Approach. While the Primary Healthcare Board is tasked with renovating 52 PHCS to make up the 351. The EXCO also approved the purchase of 20 units of JAC FRISON TX pick-up vans at a total cost of N319 million to boost security in the state. And the connection of 28 transformers across all three Senatorial Districts of the state at the cost of N247 million. (March 03, 2021)
