Farmers Productivity Boost
The Caretaker Chairman of Omi-Apata Local Council Development Area, Hon Sheriff Adeojo, empowered some farmers in the council area with bags of fertiliser, manual planters and knapsack sprayers. The Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Barrister Adeniyi Farinto, declared no evidence of padding in the 2021 Oyo State Budget. Barrister Farinto said that to achieve fiscal sustainability, the N273.7 billion budget earlier approved by the House of Assembly was reviewed downwards to N268.8 billion. (December 20, 2020)
2021 Appropriation Bill Signed
Governor Seyi Makinde signed the 2021 Appropriation Bill of N268.8 billion into law. Governor Makinde said that the performance target for the budget is at least 70%. (December 21, 2020)
Temporary Closure
Governor Seyi Makinde and other top government officials attended the Oyo State Free Fistula Repair Campaign’s closing ceremony. The medical team which executed the project was led by Professor Oladosu Ojengbede and conducted 86 successful surgeries. The project was supported by the Federal Ministry of Health, United Nations Population Fund, Fistula Foundation of Nigeria and Global Affairs, Canada. (December 21, 2020)
GSM Tennis Championship 2020 opens
Governor Seyi Makinde declared the GSM Tennis Championship 2020 open. The championship is a personal initiative of the governor to discover new talents and nurture them so that they can compete on the world stage. As part of the ceremony, Governor Makinde and the Chief of Staff, Chief Bisi Ilaka, played an exhibition match which the governor won. (December 22, 2020)
OYACA Inaugurated
Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) board. OYACA will tackle institutionalised corruption in the public/civil service at both the state and local government levels. The board comprises seven members led by the Chairman, Justice Eni Esan, a retired judge and former President of the Customary Court of Appeal. The secretary is Mr Ibrahim Oyemola Tijani from the Ministry of Justice. (December 22. 2020).
