Upgraded: Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, now Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo

Governor Seyi Makinde signed the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education Bill into law. While signing the bill, Governor Makinde said the Oyo State Government aspires to ensure that the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education becomes the best university of education in Nigeria. With the signing of the bill into law, Oyo State now has three state-owned universities.  (December 5, 2022)

Update: Road Rehabilitation by OYSROMA

The Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) continued road repairs in Ogbomoso North and Atiba LGAs. OYSROMA progressed with work at Odeloba Gaa-Mosifa-Katongua Road at Ogbomoso North LGA and carried out desilting works on the drain at Ajegunle-Adegbite-Okeolola Road in Atiba LGA. Oyo State Bids for National Sports Festival 2024

Oyo State Government bid to host the National Sports Festival (NSF) in 2024. The NSF is Nigeria’s version of the Olympics and was last held in Oyo State in 1979. The General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Gboyega Makinde, confirmed the bid saying that Oyo State has submitted all the necessary documents to back the bid. (December 6, 2022)

Courtesy Visit 

Governor Seyi Makinde received the Canadian Deputy High Commissioner, Teshome Nkrumah and the Trade Commissioner Assistant, Mrs Benedicta Emovuon, on a courtesy visit. Mr Nkrumah and Mrs Emovuon, along with their team, were in Oyo State to meet with stakeholders and seek investment opportunities in the agriculture sector. During the visit, Governor Makinde thanked the visiting team for coming to Oyo State and expressed a readiness to work with the Canadian authorities to grow the agriculture sector in Oyo State. Amotekun Recruitment Update

The Oyo State Western Nigeria Security Network Agency announced the result of its screening exercise. The screening involved candidates from all the 33 local government areas in Oyo State. In a statement released by the agency, the Oyo Amotekun Commandant, Col. Olayinka Olayanju, advised candidates to visit their respective local government councils for screening results.
