Inauguration of the 9-member Elders Council of Oyo State
Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated the 9-member Elders Council of Oyo State led by Dr Saka Balogun and Elder Wole Oyelese as Chairmen. Other members of the Council include Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi, Chief Mrs Mutiat Ladoja, Chief Jacob Adetoro, Chief Adedamola Eyinade, Alhaji Nureni Akanbi, Ambassador Ronke Adefowope and Chief Sunday Ogunlade. Governor Makinde, in his remarks, charged members of the Council to provide robust feedback and suggestions on governance issues in Oyo State. He also declared his commitment to meeting with the Elders Council regularly. (6 February 2024)
INCiTiS-FOOD courtesy visit Governor Seyi Makinde
Governor Seyi Makinde received representatives of the INtegrated and Circular Technologies for Sustainable City Region FOOD Systems in Africa (INCiTiS-FOOD) led by Prof Dr Gertrud Buchenrieder and Dr Emmanuel Benjamin on a courtesy visit. The entourage was accompanied by Dr Olusegun Oyebola, the Principal Investigator of the INCitiS-FOOD, University of Ibadan. Other members of the delegation were Mr Thomas Essel from the African Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (AFRACA) in Kenya; Prof Ranka Junge from Zurich University of Applied Science, Switzerland; Mr Ingo Bäser from Aquaponik Manufaktur GmbH, Germany; and Mrs Olivera Trivunic from Foodscale Hub, Serbia. The group were in Oyo State to discuss modalities for a partnership that will lead to Oyo State joining the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact and enhance sustainable urban food systems, which will in turn, increase food production and create meaningful employment in the state. Oyo State Electricity Regulatory Commission Bill Signing
Governor Seyi Makinde signed the Oyo State Electricity Regulatory Commission Bill into Law. While signing the bill, Governor Makinde reiterated that residents in Oyo State now have the right to demand transparency and efficiency in power generation, distribution and transmission of electricity from the State. He further stated that the new development is what is meant when state governments advocate for fiscal federalism. He said. “In years to come, as we work towards energy sufficiency, our people can hold State Governments accountable on the issue of electricity supply.” (9 February 2024)
