Oyo State Government inducts 5,000 newly-recruited teachers and 700 non-teaching staff converted to teaching cadre.

Induction 

The Oyo State Government inducted the 5,000 newly-recruited teachers and 700 non-teaching staff converted to teaching cadre. Speaking at the event, Governor Seyi Makinde reiterated Oyo State’s commitment to train, retrain and provide opportunities for the teachers. The newly inducted teachers took their oaths and were presented with their certificates of attendance. The teachers had earlier received a 2-day training as part of their induction programme. COVID-19 Vaccination Resumed

The Oyo State Primary Health Care Board approved the administration of the Moderna vaccine as the second phase of COVID-19 vaccinations commenced on Monday, August 23, 2021. Adults from 18 years and above, healthcare workers, frontline workers, senior citizens and those with underlying health conditions are eligible for the vaccine. The board advised everyone to pre-register to reduce waiting time and avoid overcrowding. (August 23, 2021)

Evacuation

The Oyo State Government evacuated 85 indigenes who are  students of the University of Jos, Plateau State. Governor Seyi Makinde delegated a team led by his Special Assistant on Students Affairs, Victor Olojede to lead the evacuation. The students first arrived at Governor Makinde’s office to express their appreciation for the timely intervention before they were taken to their respective homes. (August 24, 2021)

Courtesy Visit

Governor Seyi Makinde received the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya, who paid him a courtesy visit during a working visit to Oyo State. During the visit, Governor Makinde reaffirmed Oyo State’s support for the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in Oyo State. The newly appointed COAS appreciated Governor Makinde for his continued support of the Nigerian Army. (August 26, 2021)

Upcoming Event: Commissioning

Governor Seyi Makinde is to commission the renovated Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on September 1, 2021. The state-owned football club, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), will play against NK Tabor Sežana of Slovenia in the inaugural match. (August 24, 2021)
