New Standard Operating Procedure for Oyo PMS
The Oyo State Government released a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the Park Management System. According to the Executive Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Security, Sunday Odukoya, some of the guidelines contained in the SOP include Park Managers steering clear of alcohol or any substance use while on duty, and that they must be civil at all times. He added that there is no place for the use of sticks and rods and any such weapons while carrying out their duties. The government has also said that data points would be created across the state to ensure that all Park Managers are registered and identifiable. (May 15, 2020)
Oyo Pensioners Solidarity Visit
Governor Seyi Makinde received members of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Oyo State Council on a solidarity visit, at the State Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan. During the visit, Governor Makinde thanked the pensioners for their support and pledged to continue with the timely payment of gratuities and pensions as well as the inherited backlogs. Commissioning of Sasa Market
Governor Seyi Makinde commissioned the new Sasa Market in Akinyele Local Government Area. In his remarks, Governor Makinde described the new ultra-modern market as a symbol of unity and oneness. He urged the traders and market leaders to dwell in peace. The facility includes 200 units of lock-up shops, 84 open shops, staff offices, 8 units of male and female toilets, and modern parking lots for trailers and cars. (May 17, 2022)
Flag-off of Ogbomoso-Fapote-Iseyin Road
The Kwara State Governor, His Excellency Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq joined Governor Seyi Makinde to flag off the construction of the 76.67km Ogbomoso-Fapote-Iseyin Road in Ogbomoso. Speaking at the event, Governor Abdulrazaq commended Governor Seyi Makinde for thinking outside the box to create economic value for the people of Oyo State. In his remarks, Governor Makinde said the Ogbomoso-Fapote-Iseyin Road would facilitate intracity and interstate transport and economic activities. Upon completion, the road will be named after the Late Governor Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala. (May 18, 2022)
Residents Registration Project Commences
The Oyo State Government has commenced the registration of all residents in the state. According to the Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on ICT and e-Governance, Mr. Adebayo Akande, the residents registration project aims to ensure that Oyo State has an accurate and comprehensive database of its residents for effective decision making in the planning and allocation of resources and to curb existing security concerns. Mr. Akande said that the data to be collected includes residents’ personal biodata, biometrics, and residential address. Motorcycle and vehicle owners also have to provide their motorcycle and vehicle details for easy tracking. He further stated that enumerators had been deployed to various registration points at the 33 local government area secretariats, the State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, 66 secondary schools, and 8 Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) offices. Celebratory Dinner for Oyo Commissioner of Police
Governor Seyi Makinde hosted a celebratory dinner in honour of the newly promoted Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko in Ibadan. She was promoted from Commissioner of Police (CP) to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG). Speaking at the dinner, Governor Makinde congratulated AIG Onadeko on her new position and appreciated her for her immense contributions to the security of Oyo State. (May 18, 2022)
