Distribution of 96 laptops To EMIS Offices in Oyo State

The Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, distributed ninety-six (96) laptops to Education Management Information System (EMIS) Offices in all 33 LGAs in Oyo State. The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof AbdulWaheed Adelabu Salihu, while presenting the laptops to the beneficiaries at the Ministry in Ibadan, stated that the government is working diligently to reduce the number of out-of-school children in the State. Prof Salihu explained that the laptops were being given to EMIS Officers across the State to facilitate the collation of data on out-of-school children under the Better Education Service Delivery for All Additional Financing – Transforming Education Systems at State Level (BESDA AF-TESS) project. The programme is a form of educational grant from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) in collaboration with the World Bank. (22 January 2024)

Commiseration Visit: Council of Obas and Chiefs

Governor Seyi Makinde received the Council of Obas and Chiefs in Oyo State on a sympathy visit over the Bodija incident. During the visit, Governor Makinde and the traditional rulers discussed how to improve security in their communities, focusing on intelligence gathering and taking measures to support security agencies in the State as they address the illegal activities of miners. Donations Portal for the Bodija Incident

The Oyo State Government created a portal for donations to the victims of the Bodija incident. Members of the public can make direct donations through this link to the Dejo Oyelese Landlords/Residents Association. Furthermore, the Oyo State Government will work with the executives of the association to ensure accountability and active participation of all affected persons in the disbursement of the donations. Commissioning: 8.2 km Agodi Gate-Old Ife Road-Alakia-Adegbayi Road and Onipepeye Bridge Underpass Bridge

Governor Ademola Adeleke commissioned the dualised 8.2 km Agodi Gate-Old Ife Road-Alakia-Adegbayi Road and underpass bridge at the Onipepeye Area in Ibadan. Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Adeleke praised his Oyo State counterpart for the good work he has been doing in Oyo State, saying, “As the governor of Osun State, I watch with keen interest the developments in Oyo State. I do peer review, and I must say that the people of Oyo State are lucky to have Governor Makinde.” On his part, Governor Seyi Makinde reiterated that his administration remains committed to expanding Oyo State’s economy by continuing to invest in infrastructural development. The completed project will make it possible for residents to easily access the Dr Omololu Olunloyo Airport Road through Adegbayi. (25 January 2024)

Coutesy Visit

Governor Seyi Makinde received the Ambassador of Sweden to Nigeria, Ghana and ECOWAS, Ms Annika Hahn-Englund and her team; and Swedish investors led by Business Sweden’s Regional Manager West Africa and Transport Practice Lead Africa, Anthonia Adenaya Huard, on a courtesy visit. The Swedish investors in the entourage expressed interest in investments in various sectors of the Oyo State economy, including technology-related agribusiness and education, transportation, renewable energy and culture. Governor Makinde assured the investors of his administration’s support as they choose to invest in Oyo State. (26, January 2024)

Law School Bursary Award

The Oyo State Government, through the State Scholarship Board, has completed the verification and screening exercise for the payment of bursaries to 193 Oyo State indigenes in the Nigerian Law School for the 2022/2023 Session. The Chairman of the board, Hon.Maroof Atilola, stated that the screening exercise was to verify the 222 applicants across the seven Nigerian Law School campuses. Hon Atilola revealed that approval has been received from Governor Seyi Makinde to pay the first batch of 193 applicants the sum of N500,000 each, and that the board awaits approval for the remaining applicants.
