New Acting Chief Judge
Governor Seyi Makinde swore in Justice Iyabo Yerima as acting Chief Judge of Oyo State. At the swearing-in ceremony held at the Executive Chamber, State Secretariat, Ibadan, Governor Makinde promised that his administration would provide the necessary support to enable her to carry out her duties diligently. He also assured that his administration would continue to work with the Judiciary to complete the modernisation of the judicial system. (January 16, 2023)
Update: Implementation and Secretariat Committee for Emmanuel Alayande University of Education
Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated the Implementation and Secretariat Committees of the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education. In his remarks at the event, Governor Makinde said that the roles of these committees are to create the policies and processes by which the institution will be run, providing a solid foundation. He said his administration aims to make the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, the best University of Education in Nigeria. (January 17, 2023)
Fire Outbreak Victims: Condolence Visit
Governor Seyi Makinde paid a condolence visit to the victims of the fire incidents at Araromi Auto Spare Parts Market and Iyana Church. At the market, Governor Makinde cautioned against the indiscriminate burning of refuse that allegedly led to the fire outbreak. He directed that N10 million be given to the victims who lost goods, and reminded residents to always call 615 for free in case of emergencies. (January 17, 2023)
Clearing of Illegal Dumpsites Begin
The Oyo State Government began the clearing of illegal dumpsites in the state. The Waste Management Task Force collaborating with Mottainai Recycling Limited, the state’s waste management consultant, have evacuated waste at blackspots at Mokola, Jemibewon, Eleyele, Old Ife Road, and Iyaganku. The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, appealed to residents to partner with the government and ensure that their waste was properly disposed of.
