Christmas Carol Service for 2022

The Oyo State Government held the 2022 Festival of Carols and Nine Lessons at the Remembrance Arcade, Agodi, Ibadan. In his remarks during the service, Governor Seyi Makinde thanked the people of Oyo State for their support for his administration and wished them a Merry Christmas and a prosperous year 2023. Civil Servants Bonus Salary for December

Governor Seyi Makinde announced that civil and public servants in the state would receive their 13th-month salary before December 31, 2022. The Governor made this known at the 2022 Festival of Carols and Nine Lessons held on Sunday at the Remembrance Arcade, Agodi, Ibadan. (December 19, 2022).

Appointment

Governor Seyi Makinde approved the appointment of Dr Ajibola Sikiru Adetona as the Rector, Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki. The approval was conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun. Dr Adetona’s tenure will be for five years in accordance with the terms and conditions of the office and status, as spelt out in the relevant laws of the institution. (December 19, 2022).

Appointment of Rector

Governor Seyi Makinde approved the appointment of Professor Akinola Kehinde Akinlabi as the Rector, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igbo-Ora. Also appointed were three other principal officers of the institution namely, Mr. Rasheed Fasasi Adenrele Adeniji as Registrar, Dr Olatundun Oluwatoyin as Librarian, and Engr. Salaam Dauda Adeniran as the Director of Works. Their appointments were conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun. (December 19, 2022).

Update: Road Rehabilitation

The Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) continued road repairs and maintenance by constructing cross culverts, retaining walls, and rubble stone drains in Ogbomoso and Oyo Zones. The casting of the concrete ring was also done along the Itamaya-Ayetoro-Maya Road at Oriire LGA. OYSROMA also laid asphalt on Odeloba GAA Masifa Katongua Road, Ogbomoso North LGA and Ile Agun -Ile Kanga at Oyo East LGA. (December 21, 2022).

Courtesy Visit

The Chairman of the Oyo State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Kayode Martins and the Oyo State Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi, paid Governor Seyi Makinde, a courtesy visit in Ibadan. During the visit, Governor Makinde restated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers in the state and promised to meet with labour quarterly when re-elected. (December 21, 2022)

Brent Sugar Factory and Mill Flag off

The Deputy Governor, Barrister Adebayo Abdul-Raheem Lawal, flagged off the construction of Brent Sugar Limited Farm and Sugar Mill, Iseyin, Oyo State. At the event, Barrister Lawal stated that the Oyo State Government remains committed to attracting agribusiness investments into the state. Brent Sugar Limited Farm and Sugar Mill sits on a total mass of 12,000 hectares. (December 21, 2022)

Ibadan Airport Marks 40th Anniversary

Governor Seyi Makinde attended the 40th-anniversary celebration of the Ibadan Airport hosted by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). In his remarks at the event, Governor Makinde said the airport was vital to his administration’s plans to expand the economy of Oyo State. He promised to continue to collaborate with FAAN in the bid to upgrade the airport to international standards. (December 21, 2022)

Meeting with Muslim Leaders

Governor Seyi Makinde met with Muslim leaders at the Southwest Secretariat of the League of Imams and Alfas in Ibadan. During the meeting, Governor Makinde restated the Oyo State Government’s commitment to justice and fairness for all, irrespective of their religious affiliations. He also emphasised the importance of unity in the state despite ethnic or religious divides. (December 22, 2022)

Christmas Bonus for Pensioners

Governor Seyi Makinde approved the payment of N10,000 Christmas bonus to retired civil servants in Oyo State. Governor Makinde had promised to look into the request to extend the 13th-month salary payment to retired civil servants in the state when labour leaders visited him on December 21, 2022.
