Victory
Governor Seyi Makinde praised the players and management of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) for defeating Bendel Insurance Football Club by two goals to one in a match played in Enugu. The governor described the victory as a ‘sweet one’ and challenged the players to reclaim the glory of the 3SC. The match was their first in the ongoing Super Eight game: a requisite for promotion to the Nigerian Premier Football League. 3SC also played a second match against Remo Stars Football Club on Wednesday. The match ended in a draw. (September 7, 2021)
MoU Signed
The Oyo State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to reduce unemployment in the state. During the signing at the Governor’s Office, Ibadan, Governor Seyi Makinde’s Executive Assistant on Administration and General Services, Rev Idowu Ogedengbe, said the partnership is essential due to the rapid change in the global economy which demands new ideas and skills. The collaboration is expected to create skills training and other empowerment initiatives in the state. (September 8, 2021)
Illegal Mining
The Chairman, Oyo State Minerals Development Agency, Mr Abiodun Oni, revealed that the state would soon move against persons engaged in illegal mining. He also encouraged licensed operators within the state to observe the rules and regulations of the mining industry. Mr Abiodun Oni restated the government’s willingness to partner with relevant stakeholders for resource control and economic development. (September 9, 2021)
Condolence Visit
The Chairman of the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), Hon. Kamil Akinlabi Mudashiru, paid a condolence visit to the family of Mr Abiodun Adeleke who lost his life while trying to help some residents of Onilu, Moniya area to cross the Asanmajana River. Hon Kamil Akinlabi Mudashiru said the government’s intervention would soon be felt in the area. (September 9, 2021)

The Shooting Stars of Ibadan will play against Ekiti United on Saturday in a match that will determine their promotion back into the Nigerian Professional Football League. The Super Eight play-off matches are being hosted in Enugu State.
