Civil Service: Audit and Verification Exercise
The Oyo State Government explained the delays in the ongoing workers’ audit and verification exercise. According to the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, after the initial verification, 12,000 unregistered workers needed more time to establish their authenticity. He said everyone needed an opportunity to make their case to avoid any errors in the compilation of a final list. The second opportunity given for this verification will ensure the authorities meet the goal of establishing a comprehensive database and proper identity management system that would aid effective payment and verification of the state workforce, block loopholes in the state civil service and address the menace of ghost workers. Initial Waste Collectors Verification List
The Oyo State Government announced an initial 120 verified waste collectors) who will be working with the new waste management consultants in the state. The newly verified waste collectors will commence door-to-door waste collection and evacuation across the state to augment the work already being done by Mottainai Recycling Ltd. (August 15, 2022)
Road Inspection
Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Bayo Lawal, inspected inner roads in Ibadan. Barr Bayo Lawal inspected the roads alongside the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources Mr Abiodun Oni, and the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Prof Dahud Sangodoyin. Also present at the inspection was the Chairman of the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), Honourable Busoye Soladoye. Inspected roads included Mokola, Dugbe, Adamasingba, Femi Johnson, Oke-Bola, Oke-Ado, Ibadan Grammar School, Kudeti, and Orita-Aperin roads. During the inspections, Barr. Lawal restated the government’s commitment to continue rehabilitating and upgrading roads in the state. (August 15, 2022)
Manufacturers Association of Nigeria Annual Meeting
The Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Bayo Lawal attended the 39th Annual General Meeting of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (Oyo/Osun/Ondo/Ekiti Chapter). While speaking at the meeting, Barr Lawal reiterated the administration’s commitment to supporting businesses through the provision of adequate infrastructure and security in the state. Oyo State Gas Masterplan
Oyo State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources Barr. Temilolu Seun Ashamu inaugurated the committee for the Oyo State Gas Masterplan. Speaking at the occasion, Barr Ashamu disclosed that the development of the Masterplan was a negotiated condition of the signed agreement between the Oyo State Government and Shell Nigeria Gas. He said the Masterplan would provide the medium-long term development trajectory for gas infrastructure to reach different parts of the state and ensure energy security. (August 17, 2022)
BESDA: Verification Tour
The Oyo State Government, through the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OyoSUBEB), conducted a verification tour of the 21 Local Government Areas benefitting from the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) programme in the state. During the tour, the Executive Chairman of OyoSUBEB, Dr Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, applauded the new development of non-formal learners being admitted into formal primary schools in the state. He highlighted this as one of the ways the Oyo State Government would reduce the out-of-school children’s menace to the barest minimum in the state. (August 17, 2022)
